Need help for a newbie

When I transferred photos from a SanDisk 32gb Extreme to a Windows computer, the transfer stopped in the middle and I had to pull the disk out of the drive. After that, the disk can mount, but can't be opened on any computer. Since I have a lot of photos in it, I tried to use PhotoRec to recover them. However, the program always gets stuck with "Disk Identification, please wait" message. What can I do next?
