Recover Phase One IIQ files (TIFF)

#1 Post by MikkelMoxness »

I have a CF card with Phase One's .IIQ raw image files. The card shows up in Windows as an unformatted volume. In my camera I can view the images. I've tried using Photorec but all i get is Tiff-files in preview size along with alot of txt's. These txt's seem to have recorded some camera and raw file information.
Any suggestions as to how I can get the complete raw files from the card? I've also tried Testdisk to repair the partition, but it has proven unsuccesful.

Using latest PhotoRec 7.0-WIP, in FileOpts, disable txt and tx? file families. Try a recovery.
If it still doesn't work, please send 2 or 3 unmodified IIQ files.

Thank you for getting back to me so soon!
I've tried what you suggest and it doesn't work.
Here is a link to three IIQ-files (zipped):

Thanks again! I really hope you can get something out of this.

Hello again. Any luck with the IIQ-files yet? I'm very close to sending my card to a professional lab.

I have try latest PhotoRec 7.0-WIP (latest version is a few days old) and the 3 IIQ files you send me are recovered as .tif without problem...
To do another test, take a small memory card, take a few pictures, run TestDisk, Advanced, Image Creation and upload the image.dd file. I will check if I can reproduce the problem.

Ok, but is there any way I can send you the raw data from my corrupted CF card, or is it too big (32GB)?

This is one of the files I am able to pull from the card with the latest Photorec:

It seems that only the jpeg preview is intact. This is the case with every file I recover..

Run TestDisk, Advanced, Image Creation. This will create a file named image.dd

Some bit are forced to zero in the memory card image.

In CF047160.IIQ, you can see the following information
"Phase One A/S" and "AutoWB: 1.25; 1.00; 1.72, Kelvin=4695, Tint=-0.0018"
In b0002180.tif (broken file recovered with PhotoRec) from the 4GB image, there are
"Phase Oje A+S" and "AqtkWB: 1*12; 1*00; 2*09, Kehvin93350, Pijt9-0.0012"

Maybe a memory card contact or the memory card reader is dirty and need to be cleaned.
