photorec stuck on sector with img file on ssd

#1 Post by chedderslam »

I have to keep restarting it. It is a 300 GB img file copied to my ssd mounted with OSFmount. Is this the fastest mounting software?

I have brute force and paranoid off. Just trying to recover most files, doc, jpg, gif, and mp3. I created the img using ddrescue with the sys rescue disc.

I have restarted the recovery several times. The disk has tons of viruses on it, so I have to have my avast AV on hardened mode. Running a scan seems to blue screen my computer.

Please help. This is for a friend and I promised I would have this done before I leave for a trip out of town tomorrow. Thanks for any help!

PhotoRec can work directly on image file. Select your dd/img file and choose to open it with photorec. This way no need to use OSFmount.
The best setting is "Paranoid : Yes (Brute force disabled)".
I think it's better to disable disable your antivirus, run photorec, wait for photorec to finish, reenable your antivirus and scan the recovered files.
