Not able to find retrieved files...

Hello,

I'm trying to recover some lost files from an unbootable machine by launching photorec from a live cd, but I'm not able to find where retrieved files are saved.
Following some guides about, I used a usb pen drive and I specified the correct path in the saving options, but nothing happens. It seems that photorec doesn't see the drive...

any suggestion would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Hello,

Here there are some screenshots. As you can see, the usb device seems to be properly recognized among the disks as Sony Storage Media:

So, this is the path I choosen to save data (Directory/media/):

But no usb drive is listed...am I wrong?

So nothing happens...

You need another disk to save the files. If you choose /media (and not a subdirectory corresponding to a mounted volume), files will be saved in a virtual disk. Recovered files will be lost after a reboot.

I see that I'm only wasting my time waiting for weird replies...

I'm trying to save data from a currently unbootable hdd to a usb pen drive.
So, I'm already using "another disk" as you suggest, to save the retrieved files, that would be the said usb pen drive.
The problem is that the usb pen drive on wich I would save data, even if regularly connected, IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY YOUR SOFTWARE (I already tried more different usb pen drives...) and this makes impossible for me to save in any way that files...so the mock is that I easily find my files, but cannot recover absolutely anything...
And that seems to correspond with no doubt simply to a greater software bug, and that's all.
For you a good reason to review your software.
For me a good reason to search something better elsewhere.
