Can't find external drive to save onto (7/6.14)

Ahoy!
As you may guess, I'm having troubles selecting the external drive I want to save my music on.
Long story short: mac formatted ipod->all of my music on it->trying to retrieve it to windows-format the ipod->after some tries the ipod stops working (can't see the music (but "senses" it), thinks it's brand new).

SO: I'm trying to use PhotoRec, but qphotorec won't resume the scanning, and trying to make a new seach on the same ipod won't give me any result.
I've been trying to use "normal" photorec, but I'm not able to select my external drive (WD mypassport, 512 GB) to save the music on (not enough space on interna HDD).

Please, help me!!! :D

Thanks in advance! ;)

Did you try to mark that 2 dots in the upper area of your photorec display and press enter until you get to your disk selction?
Is your external disk not listed there?

Hi Fiona!
Yes, I obviously "went back" from the desktop to the uppest directory (\), finding nothing... I read on the ubuntu forum (although I'm running windows 7 64bit) people would look for/find a \media directory, but I don't know what its windows' counterpart would be.

If you run testdisk for windows, you should use the 32bit version.
You should select your disk instead of a drive.

I'll download it and try. Silly question: should I test the ipod, the mypassport or both?

Do you mean I should recover on c:? Cause I already wrote I don't have enough memory... :/

No!
In PhotoRec you should select your affected disk.
Next step, PhotoRec displays your partitions (drives).
Choose your affected partition where you'd like to recover your data from.
Confirm with Search.
If your file system is NTFS, choose "Other".
Choose your desired scan option like free or whole.
Now, PhotoRec displays your destination path in the upper area (Directory).
Standard is your TestDisk/PhotoRec-folder.
If you execute PhotoRec from your desktop, it'll be your testdisk folder on your desktop.
Now mark that two dots and press enter to have another try to get to your disk selection.
Select your appropriate disk, where you'd like to recover your data to.
Choose your right partition.
You can mark a folder and enter it using the right arrow key on you keyboard.
If your destination path is correct, you can press C (upper case) to start recovering files.

Please test it.

I actually did it, already... :P
The problem was that the 64bit version doesn't let you choose another drive...
Luckily you advised to try the 32bit release, and it worked!
I'm going to mark as "solution" your previous response. ;)
Thank you so much!!!
