Outlook Express overwrites the first 4 bytes every 512 bytes block when you delete mail messages. You can recover deleted mail from DBX files using undbx (open source, https://code.google.com/p/undbx/) but be warned that the attachments in the messages would likely be unreadable and the message text too could be partially unreadable or totally unreadable (parsing error) due to the overwritten bytes. If you are sure you cannot find any backup you could try asking in the Forensic Focus (http://www.forensicfocus.com) forum to see if they know other software that may help you to extract the messages from possible copies of the mails still present in the unallocated data of the partition.
