Recovery completed right after connecting a new media

#1 Post by kouny »

Hey,
I let photorec of a damaged disc run overnight. When I woke up, photorec told me the target disk is full and asked for a new media to write on as i expected. The problem is that when I set a path on the new disk and resumed the recovery, it ran for just a few seconds and then told me its finished. Needless to say, there´s nothing on the second disc i connected.
And what´s even more strange, the total count of files in my recovery folder (yep, it was been blank before) is ca 250k while the total amount of recovered files according to photorec is 234k.

Code: Select all

//this thing counts recursively files in a folder
find /media/FreeAgent\ Drive/recovery/ -print | wc -l
251526

Code: Select all

Disk /dev/sda - 500 GB / 465 GiB (RO) - ST9500325AS
Partition Start End Size in sectors
3 P HPFS - NTFS 1754 6 45 60801 48 31 948592688

234441 files saved in /media/2A74F95A74F92969/recup_dir directory.
Recovery completed.
(The "/media/2A74F95A74F92969/recup_dir" is a blank folder in the second connected disk.)

Is there any way to get the rest of my data? Thank you very much!
