Recovering Windows Product Key

#1 Post by water » 29 Nov 2014, 07:43

Hello,

I failed to recover a windows partition using Testdisk after disk was formated and windows was reinstalled. Couldn't list files, file system corrupted etc

All i want is to retrieve my windows product key, so I wanted to know, can photorec recover registry files? For example the windows product key is located in \Windows\System32\Config in a file named "Software" which has no file extension.

I've looked at the file formats that photorec support but wasn't sure.

Thanks in advance
