You can have a try to use PhotoRec.
Did you already write data onto your disk?
Then it might be possible that your data are overwritten.
A tip would be, go to File Opt in PhotoRec.
press s to deselect all file types.
Then activtate only your required file types.
Scan your whole space.

Please let me know.

Fiona,

thanks for advise,

unfortunately it did not work. it took almost 19 hours to scan for doc and excel files and results showed up as numbers, on the other hand almost all of them were corrupted.i need that file desperately:( do you know if there is any way to look for it by name?

it is irrelevant but whether or not any professional may help in this issue? i mean is it possible to get data from formatted hard-drive?
i just want not to dismiss any way to get that file:)

thanks

You can test commercial software as a trial.
Suggestesion would be scavenger or Restorer Ultimate.
In the trial version you can recover files up to 128 KB free of charge.
