please I need your urgent reply, I'm a new user

Few months back my 500gig hdd doesn't work properly telling me to format which I'm afraid to loose my files on it ...after surfing the internet I stumbled here which I just registered. ..I got the software which I run in my windows 7 PC. It took me days for it to scan finished. ..thank God for that.. The next problem I'm going through now is that. .after selecting the partition to recover, clicking on load partition, confirm(y/n), ...after typing (y) it displays error, ...I've tried it for couple of times which displays the same error.i happen to read some replies to some posts earlier that says the partition to be restored should be in primary which I did but still doesn't work... .please I need help..
