recover only html files ?

#1 Post by jnseino »

Hi,

Photorec 7, windows 7. I need to restore several html files, but couldn't understand how. There is no html file extension in default menu, so I created photorec.sig with:
html 0 "HTML file"

fidentify identifies then ok, but when running photorec (choose only "custom - Own custom signatures" in 'File opt'), it recovers nothing.

Second question, could I search/recovere only in particular directory ? (not on a whole disk) ?

Html is packed into a file family.
If you open FileOpt, you can press s to deselect all file types.
Scroll down to "txt"-other txt files and check it.
Have another try to scan.

No there is no possibility.
You can either scan free space or whole disk.
Is your file system damaged, so that testdisk doesn't list any file?
