About excel files and disk

Hi everyone:
I have recovered some .xls files with Photorec,but they are damaged...If I defrag the disk...it could be a solution?

Defrag is no solution to improve results for data recovery and can make datarecovery impossible.
Your data are underlying and defrag would override your data/files where you'd like to recover.
That's why you should never write to an affected disk.
Defrag or a disk with low fragmentation can have better results, but only if you used it as maintenance before you lost your data.
