hello
Firstly, thank you for this tool.
long story short..... gave an ipod filled with music to a relative 6-7 years ago. became contaminated with liquid and slowly died (liquid slowly ate the board while sat in a dock) hard disc is ok luckily. no fluid damage.
the plan is to try and recover the music and buy a second hand ipod to put the music back on to and give back to my relative.
Purchased a cheapy ZIF to Micro usb adapter and dismantled the ipod and plugged in the hard drive.
the device is recognised by my laptop but says i must format the drive before i can use it. (its an ipod disc)
so i have used TestDisk7.0 and it was immediately able to recover 1800odd files but only up to artists from A to J?
is there a file number limit? or is it likely that is the only part of the disc that can be read/damaged?
go easy on me, im a total noob when it comes to data recovery
Thank yuo for any of the help you may be able to give me.

Re: Recovering mp3 files from an ipod only A-J?
As I don't know which filesystem is used and you haven't post the testdisk.log, it's hard to know why testdisk hasn't listed more files.
Run PhotoRec, select the ipod, select the partition, search, choose [Whole] instead of [Free]...
Recovered files will have generic filenames but it should be possible to rename them using the embedded mp3 info.
