Recovery Problem with MS Excel 2007 Files (*xlsx)

Dear Forum Members,

I accidentally deleted some rather important excel tables. They were in .xlsx format.

I tried to recover them using PhotoRec v6.14-WIP and choosing only "zip archive including OpenOffice and MS Office 2007" from the file options. I ended up with a whole bunch of ZIP files, obviously, but there wasn't any MS Office 2007 files.

Could someone tell me please how can I bring back any .xlsx files?

Thank you

What was the filesystem from you deleted these files ? If it was NTFS, did you try Testdisk > Advanced > Undelete ?
You can filtere results using "F" key in search results.

Thanks for the quick reply!

It's a linux ext2 filesystem, Linux kernel 2.6.24.4 i686

The TestDisk > Advanced File System Utils > Undelete is for some reason not available

Testdisk has no ability to undelete over ext2. As far as I know, there are only two tools providing this functionnality (i mean two free and opensource tools) over ext filesystem : ext3grep and extundelete. extundelete is based on journalisation, so it won't work with ext2 (not journaled filesystem). Perhaps you'll be able to have good results with ext3grep ?
