mbox files recovery: attachements truncated?

#1 Post by Nux17 »

Hello,

I rm'ed and formated some files from an EXT3 part to an NTFS clean partition, but I had to get them back.
It's a large number (50k+) of emails on Maildir (mbox) format. I retrieved all those mails using the 'tx?' option of Photorec, but when I'm importing them into a mail client most of the PDF attachements are unreadable.
.xls, .doc are okay.

After further investigation it seems the embedded base64 encoded PDF files in mbox files recovered with photorec seems truncated, no end of multipart in most of files.

Why does this happens? How to get them back?
