Hi all,
I am having system previously had:
1. System reserved 500 MB
2. Win10 50 GB
3. Data 350 GB
4. Opensuse 12 GB /root
5. Swap 2 GB
6. /home 15 GB
Due to some reason I need to reinstall opensuse but that gone bad and took whole disk for installation, that also failed during bootloader installation. I was shocked and tried to reinstall again with more attention. Now it has
1. System reserved around 200 MB
2. Data(empty) around 430 GB
3. /root, swap, and /home around 30 GB
I want to recover my previous Data partition as this has very important data.
I am confused that should I recover partition or recover files? What's the difference?
Is it possible to recover partition without leaving my system unusable as now my partition size is different from previous one.?
Help me please!!!!
Regards

To recover the data correctly, the previous partition table need to be recovered first: TestDisk, Ananlyse, Quick Search, Deeper Search, switch the partition to keep to P(rimary), *(bootable) and L(ogical), on next screen, if partitions are listed, choose Write, confirm, Quit and restart your computer.
You probably will not be able to start your computer from this disk, so you should boot from a Linux LiveUSB or from another disk.
Instruction on how to create a Linux LiveUSB can be found at https://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk.pdf
