Photorec 6.11 mp4 video recovery

Firstly, a "sudo apt-get install testdisk" for ubuntu downloads and installs version 6.11.
Secondly, the software recovers .mp4's as .mpg's and they will not play using various video players.
Did a test with a new mp4 video.
Is there something I am doing wrong?
