PhotoRec can't read off RAW drive

#1 Post by AJNiteowl »

I am trying to use PhotoRec to retrieve many files off an external 1TB disk. PhotoRec stumbles due to no partitions although it can see /dev/sdb – 512 B (RO) – Imation Apollo M100 USB3 and then on “Proceeding” identifies under the headings:
Partition Start End Size in sectors - “No partition 0 0 1 0 0 1 1 [Whole disk] then on the next line:
> 1 P HPFS – NTFS 2048 – 0 – 1 1953523119 – 0 – 1 1953521072 (which clearly isn’t right).

I am not sure if PhotoRec is reading past the 512B but I have managed to use another program to retrieve some files off the RAW disk. - Any thoughts?
