Recover files from [maybe]counterfeit micro SD?

#1 Post by kraznky »

Dear All,

Please help.
I belatedly found out that the microsd i recently purchased online may possibly be a counterfeit. I have transferred photos into it and it was working fine for a month or so.
Last week, after I took some picture with my phone, it was found that some, not all, photos were corrupted. I closed all apps, removed and re-inserted the microSD into my phone. Alas, my phone doesnt detect it anymore, nor does the desktop. After several attempts over several days, my deskptop finally detects it but prompts for format disk. At least, theres hope now.

However, when I ran testdisk, first issue was Unknown partition. After that, when i manually selected the type it says NO FAT FOUND.
I then ran Photorec in the hopes of recovering something. scanning took a little over 10mins with 0 files found.

Is there anything else I can try? Please advise. I attach some photos I took for your information. Much Appreciated

Thank you!

When trying PhotoRec, choose [Whole] instead of [Free].
Do you get better results ?
Do you read error messages while PhotoRec was running ?
