qphotorec recovery

#1 Post by gunski59 »

Hi I have a 1tb HD which I had all my photos on, 13 years worth, when I saved some other stuff to the HD it seems to have deleted to file containing the photos (jpg) and my videos (3gp), when I try to recover them it gets to about 50% then keeps jumping back/looping, I know it probably has something to possibly to do with a photo as I have asked before but is there a way around this so I can recover the rest please?

Yes I believe so though I only ran it for a couple of hours, I will try again this Thursday when I am not on duty and have more time to run it.

Take this for what it's worth (perhaps nothing) however, I had a looping issue with Qphotorec too. It would loop between 7 and 11% and not progress. And it appears that if you stop Qphotorec it will just start over and not resume. So, I ran photorec instead and it has charged past the looping point that seems to have tripped up Qphotorec. I have not finished scanning my 6TB HD yet but I do think if I stop I can resume where the previous run left off. You might want to try this.

Yes, PhotoRec can resume a recovery, not QPhotoRec.

Ok have been running the Photorec 7.1-wip on a 1tb Toshiba HD for at least 6.5 hours now, it moves backwards and forwards between about 43/52% BUT seems to.be recovering, it now stands at 3106 files! How long should it technically take for the drive size and is it normal to stay between 43/52%? For about 5/6 hrs?

Check c the recovered pics there seems to be an excessive amount of one pic....could this be the reason?

Did you make the mistake of choosing a destination on the source partition ?
