If you mean did I set up a folder destination on the same drive I am recovering from then yes lol

Ok now attempting to run scan again from laptop but this time the destination folder has been created on the laptop itself instead of the HD that I am scanning, see what happens this time

Right it shot up to 53% and now seems to be stuck there again so its obviously not location of destination file, I believe it is when it gets to a certain photo/s pigeons flying in the sky that it sticks. What should I do now, how do I get around it sticking because of that certain photo?

201 pilot - trying your idea at the mo and yes it does seem to be working and its seems to be working a lot faster, thanks for the idea

Do not choose to write the files to the same partition they were stored on, otherwise PhotoRec may recover the same files over and over.
