Data Recovery

#1 Post by cleecayce »

Hello I hope you can help me to make sure I am going about my particular dilemma in the correct order. This is what has happened. I have a non system Truecrypt partition containing data that was overwritten by a Windows install. I did have a backup header for said Truecrypt partition. I restored the header, successfully mounted volume in Truecrypt, and no data is there. Am I correct to assume that my next action would be to run PhotoRec on the mounted logical volume and see what it finds?
Testdisk would not do me any good in this case right? Thank you for any help you can offer me.

It's correct, try PhotoRec on the unlocked volume.
