Disk is not indentifiable/openable

I can't open the disk as it crashes my OS. Not sure if that is normal here. But when I click on the photorec executable it gets stuck on "disk identification". Is this normal?

Supposing I can get past this, does anyone know which file system type this drive http://www.lg.com/pt/perifericos/lg-XD7-1TB uses?

Usually FAT32, NTFS or exFAT is used on external disks.
If PhotoRec gets stuck, it may be a hardware problem.
It's possible to create a Linux LiveUSB, boot from it and try the Linux version of testdisk to see if you have the same symptoms, see https://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk.pdf for on how to create this LiveUSB
