Is the time correct 392hours to recover?

Hi Guys,
I'm new to Photorec and hoping it will be my saviour. ( Yes like a dick I didn't backup my downloads folder). After trying to update my Tom Tom Sat Nav, my laptop crashed and the Hard Drive would not boot in to windows, even after trying windows repair, creating a windows boot disk on another windows. Tried all sorts.

After being able to access the drive and getting it to show on my external caddy. I find that the downloads directory has gone completely. I had another downloads folder called "!Downloads" which is visible. But all my images were in the "Downloads" which has gone. (Its in the ether somewhere)

I'm going to give the Photorec a whirl, gone through the settings and hit the search and its coming up like the image attached. Any comments welcome and appreciated folks.

James

It looks very/too slow. If there are bad sectors, a data recovery can take days. It's recommended to clone the disk to a new empty one in this case (cf https://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk.pdf )
As the recovery accelerated ?

Many thanks for your reply Christophe,

I managed to recover a few of my photos' but then the program just stopped. I am very new to file recovery. As you say, I will get another drive put in the caddy and do a clone, to see if that's better. I've added a few snapshots of what was happening. I would appreciate it if you could explain some of the figures.

All the best
James
