Is it possible to pause PhotoRec, turn linux off/on, and resume the scan?

Let's say I am over 100 hours into a scan and it needs to run for 100 more hours, but I really need to turn off linux without losing all the progress.

It seems to be possible to start a scan from any sector using the "expert mode", but it seems every time PhotoRec finds a file, it goes back and re-scans millions of sectors again (am I right?).

So I am not sure if just writing down the current sector number and starting a new scan from that sector does the job.

When PhotoRec starts, it checks for the photorec.ses file. If this file is present, it will use it to resume the file recovery.

I had to restart a NAS that I was recovering data from. I then restarted Photorec and it resumed which was fine. Due to the long period (12000 hours) I decided to quit once again and narrow down file types in the options then restarted Photorec. It is now performing a "file System Analysis" does this mean it's starting from scratch again as it had been running for over 400 hours!! Can I quit if necessary and resume from the .ses file?

PhotoRec doesn't do "File system Analysis".
I wonder why the estimated time is so big, is one of the disk defective (ie. bad sectors) ?
