unsure of which partition table type to choose in recovery

#1 Post by hwfixfiles »

i have a WD passport. somehow it stopped functioning properly from the last time i used it. it does not show my folders, excel and word files anymore. it asks if i want to format, which i dont want to do . someone told me about testdisk. i downloaded testdisk , but dont know which partition table to use. testdisk highlights "NONE" but the note at the bottom says "do not select "none" for media with only a single partition . its very rare for a disk to be "non-partitioned". i dont want to pick the wrong choice and loose my data. is NONE still okay to pick, to try and retrieve my files?

If you have selected a drive letter, select partition type: None, Advanced, Boot, List
Anyway, it's better to select the PhysicalDrive instead of a drive letter.
