Usb not accessible because of I/O device error

Hi I have a 32G toshiba usb that is very important to me. every time when I try to access it I get this message "The request could not performed because of an I/O devices error" I searched on google to find the solution and the most appearing solution was to run this command "chkdsk /f m:".....m being the name of the drive. I tried this but i get message "Cannot open volume for direct access" Psiphon

Try to clone your USB key using ddrescue as explained in https://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk.pdf
If it works, open the image file using PhotoRec
If ddrescue doesn't work, you should contact a data recovery company.

Actually i was facing the same problem and was looking for the thread and i ended up by looking at this post. The followed answer of this post by @cgrenier helped me to figure it out. mcdvoice aadhar card

Thanks for the solution. I've asked the same on PCadvisor, but they redirected me to this topic. It doesn't look like a software error to me, I thought it was most likely the hardware error. I used TestDisk and PhotoRec.
