I see that Photo Rec recognizes files saved by Intuit's Turbo Tax program
https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/File_Fo ... y_PhotoRec
.tax (square box with open arrow pointing up/right - a link) Turbo Tax
The link points to here:
https://git.cgsecurity.org/cgit/testdis ... file_tax.c
Is this perhaps the source code for finding this filetype?
I ask because for about 10 years Turbo Tax has used a year specific extension, e.g. *.tax2015
I would like to use PhotoRec to recover *.tax2016, *.tax2017, and *.tax2018 from a data disk.
I don't see the files on the disk anymore when I log it using Kim Henkel's ZTreeWin, my go-to file manager program.
thanks,
baumgrenze

Re: Finding Turbo Tax Files in Photo Rec
Run PhotoRec! You will see if it recover your files or not.
Be careful to store the recovered files on another partition than the source.
