File recovery

#1 Post by Flo84 »

Hello,

I have accidentally erased 20000 pgm pictures on my Linux system (Ubuntu emulated with VirtualBox), by a rm -r ./* command in the wrong directory!!!
I have right away saved my image disk before going any further.

I have been trying for the whole day to recover my datas with photorec without any success.
I am using the photorec 6.13 with the PPM/PGM files selected.
I am not sure about the filesystem I should select (is ext4 supported on this version). Also I don't have the unallocated memory only option with ext2/ext3/ext4 selection
Also which file partition should I select. I have E extented L Linux and whole disk (I chose whole disk).

Does anyone has recovered files after a rm command on linux?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

You have to select the Linux partition, ext2/3/4 will be automatically selected and you will be able to choose Free
