Re: Where to store recovered data?

#11 Post by Tomjika »

Hello,

I'm trying to recover data on my second internal hardrive and I have the same problem where I can't select the destination other than on C:/. I don't have access to the other drives, especially the USB one that will be the recepient of saved data. I have hit the left arrow numerous times but no effect, just stock on C:/.

Thank you for your help.

Tomjika, TestDisk can let you write on partitions where your running OS can access.
Ie. you are booting from DOS, you will not be able to access NTFS or exFAT.

Thank you for your answer. The thing is that I'm not booting on DOS, I'm running photorec_win.exe from Windows 8.

Finally figured out a fix..

copy the photorec folder to destination drive
open dos box
navigate to that drive
run photorec
boom - your able to save to the destination drive you want
maybe it will work without using dos box but that is how i did it
