Can I Increase the Speed of Recovery by Adjusting Initial Parameters
Posted: 04 Oct 2019, 02:48
I'm using PhotoRec to recover files from an external USB 125GB. The recovery process has been running for several days and the estimated duration is another week. That is a little bit longer than I anticipated the job would take when I began.
I'm wondering if I should stop the process and start again. Is it possible to get better performance by modifying the initial parameters?
In addition, I have some questions about the current process.
The first few lines of the output at the moment are:
Several items in the output stand out for me:
thanks,

- The line beginning with "Pass 1 - Reading sector" has two numbers "71756960/240254944". The number 71756960, which I assume is the current sector, has not changed, although the number of files found climbs steadily.
- The estimated time to completion increases approximately 2 seconds for each second that the program has been running.
