Extract and repair corrupt .jpg files due to bad sectors

Hi all!

I've managed to clone my failing NTFS hard drive to another hard drive using ddrescue.
Then, I've analysed what files are corrupt due to bad sectors using ddrutility's ddru_ntfsfindbad on the cloned copy.
Next, I need to extract and repair these files from the cloned copy.

Content of ntfsfindbad.log:

Code: Select all

inode=21247  errors=0028  errorsize=126464  FILE   name=./path/to/corrupt_file1.jpg
inode=24402  errors=0031  errorsize=257536  FILE   name=./path/to/corrupt_file2.jpg
Are TestDisk & PhotoRec the right tools for my task?
If yes, how can I extract and repair these exact files?
Also, would it be helpful or damaging to run chkdsk on the cloned copy first / afterwards?

Thank you!

There is no way to find my missing data from the corrupted files but PhotoRec may be useful to find a copy of the lost files or at least a thumbnail of this file...
