New User Who's Stuck

#1 Post by Miller62808 »

Background. My old laptop crashed; hp pavilion dv4 running Windows 7. Blinking light indicated CPU failure, so removed my HD to make external and recover data. Using husband's Toshiba satellite now, and external won't boot (should be bootable). Get the BSOD that indicates bad boot sector, ran testdisk which gives back that boot information is good - or at least identical. Not sure where to go next. all of my daughter's pictures are on this HDD! Please help!

TestDisk has failed to access your data. You can still use PhotoRec to recover them, but the files won't have their original filenames.

After selecting the NTFS partition, choose [Whole] instead of [Free]. Do you get better results ?
