Seagate 1TB hard drive

#1 Post by jdw987 »

I have a Seagate 1TB hard drive that started freezing up when trying to open a folder. I can access the drive and see all the folders. Any folder I click on it freezes. Tried running check disc and it would not run. Tried to run check disc from CMD and it said it could not run on a raw drive yet in the properties of the drive it says it is NTFS. I've started running testdisk last night and it has been running now for 14 hours and now every thing it is scanning says read error and last night it wasn't doing this. The only option it is giving me at the moment is stop. What do I do now. I desperately need to save these files but can not afford to pay someone to try and recover them. The instructions I printed out said not to create a log file so I didn't.
