Rescue of my recordings?

#1 Post by hhougaard »

It seems as if my first post disappeared so here goes again.

My hard disc recorder crashed last weekend (I cannot turn it on anymore) so I am trying to rescue the recordings on the hard drive. My plan is to move the recordings to my PC and from there back to my new hard disc recorder via an external hard drive.

I have moved the hard drive to my PC and I can see the drive in Disk Management but it is reported as Not initialised/Not allocated.

I therefore tried to analyze the hard drive by using TestDisk but I am not familiar with the tool. Can anybody help me analysing the log-file that was created? I have posted it below.

Thanks.

More information will help. Can you post
- the brand/model of your recorder
- the partition table type use by your recorder (ie PC/Intel, GPT, proprietary...)
- the filesystem type (FAT32, exFAT, NTFS, ext4...)
- the file type (.mov, .mp4, .wav...)

I'll try for sure but I may not be able to provide that many answers.

The recorder though is a Panasonic DMR-EX77.

However, I cannot find any information regarding partition tables, filsystems or file types in the manual. From the TestDisk logfile stated in my initial post the table type is stated to be intel. If using SD cards with the recorder these have to be either FAT12, FAT16 or FAT32 formats according to the manual so maybe FAT32 is a good guess.

Not much extra info I'm afraid but maybe enough to help you help me?
