Corrupted External HDD

#1 Post by pwdl »

I plugged my 1Tb external HDD that I use with my macbook into my windows 8 machine and things have gone south since then. The drive wasn't initially recognised and then an I: drive appeared for about 30 seconds and then disappeared. Now the drive is fried.

I have attempted to use testdisk from my mac to restore the partition tables, but that doesn't seem to sort it. I did download a demo of a piece of software call DrillDisk and ran the initial recovery. It appeared to find some if not all of the files and so the data does appear to still be there. I am just keen to restore the drive if at all possible.

Any suggestions / ideas? Any help would be awesome!!
