RAW HDD attempting to repair

#1 Post by baddisk »

I have an external Hard drive (Internal converted to external). It has gone RAW and trying to repair. This is as far as I got. Please help as I'm trying to recover my sons 11 years of life in pictures.

I start with

Create log file >

Select a media (use Arrow keys, then press Enter):
Disk \\.\PhysicalDrive0 - 500 GB / 465 GiB
Disk \\.\PhysicalDrive1 - 300 GB / 279 GiB
Drive C: - 489 GB / 455 GiB
Drive D: - 10436 MB / 9953 MiB
>Drive F: - 300 GB / 279 GiB

I then select drive F: the problem Hdd > Then I select partition table type >[Intel ] Intel/PC partition > Then Analyze

Drive F: - 300 GB / 279 GiB - CHS 36482 255 63
Current partition structure:
Partition Start End Size in sectors

1 * Sys=72 13577 238 11 119521 238 60 1701990410

2 * Sys=74 45381 70 3 79242 34 29 543974724

*=Primary bootable P=Primary L=Logical E=Extended D=Deleted
>[Quick Search] [ Backup ]
Try to locate partition

After that I select [ Backup ] and after a while it crashes and it gives me this.

Drive F: - 300 GB / 279 GiB - CHS 36482 255 63
Analyse cylinder 2/36481: 00%
Read error at 1/232/40 (lba=30720)

If close progrma and retry to analyze again it gives me this error message

Drive F: - 300 GB / 279 GiB - CHS 36482 255 63
Current partition structure:
Partition Start End Size in sectors

Partition sector doesn't have the endmark 0xAA55

Run TestDisk, select "Disk \\.\PhysicalDrive1", Advanced, Boot, List.
Does it work ? If it's not the case, please post the testdsk.log file content.

Hi
Have you tried in >[None] Non partitioned media
[Analyse]
Don't anything ie no action taken or more damage done. Just look at the results and post the results.
When experimenting don't do anything further looked at the results first. Then decide later.
