IMOEGA IX 400-D Failure $100 dollars for successful fix

#1 Post by slappy901 »

I have an Imoega IX400-200D that is bricked. I have used testdisk and can see the partitions however I am not sure on how to go about recovering the partitions. I am not fluent in filesystem/raid repair in linux, I have plugged all 4 drives into a Ubuntu box and they just show as 4 unknown disks. I am familar with linux in other aspects.

I will pay $100 USD for a successful suggested correction/path.

I have attached screenshots as well as my testdisk.log download url

As seen in the testdisk.log file, the partition table lists a Linux software raid partition named md0.
As root, run

Code: Select all

mdadm --auto-detect
If there is an error, try to get more details using

Code: Select all

dmesg|tail
If there is no error, mount the partition and check if your files are here

Code: Select all

mount /dev/md0 /mnt
ls /mnt

Hello and thank you for the reply.

There are no partitions on the disks according to disks in Ubuntu.

when I run mdadm --auto-detect it does not find anything.
[ 124.052746] md: Autodetecting RAID arrays.
[ 124.052754] md: Scanned 0 and added 0 devices.
[ 124.052757] md: autorun ...
[ 124.052759] md: ... autorun DONE.

Also, Gparted shows all 4 disks as unallocated.

Sorry that I am such a newb on filesystem in linux, and appreciate your assistance.

Your log file was showing the following partition:

Code: Select all

1 P Linux Raid 72 41961799 41961728 [md0]
What do you get if you run "testdisk -lu" ? If the partition is gone, please recover it using TestDisk.
Once the partitions are ok, run

Code: Select all

mdadm --auto-detect -v

When I recover those partitions and set them active write and reboot I get 20 gig partitions on each disk RAID 1 and no readable data. I used Photorec and recovered this data.. It appears to be the OS files for the IX4-200D so that data is pretty much worthless. If you look at the pictures you will see that there are partitions that show to be larger than the disk size.. This is my data.. This is 4 X 2TB drives and the array should be 6 TB.

I'll run the testdisk -lu on all 4 drives and report back with screenshots and logs.

You need to recover the md0 partition on each disk

ok I will recover them after I do another scan. MD0 is the only one I can recover because when I try to recover both MD0 and the LVM partition it says bad structure. I will update case after I recover the MD0 partitions and run the command mdadm --auto-detect -v.

Just as I thought after recovering those partitions They are showing up as RAID 1 not RAID 5. No Data, nothing. Now I have a bunch of junk partitions. mdadm --auto-detect -v does absolutely nothing.

The MD0 partition that you keep asking me to re-enable is showing a 4 gig LVM and then a 17 gig unknown partition. I am looking for the other 6tb partitions that were raid 5. if you look at the logs you will see partitions that were probably part of a physical volume group or something however I have no idea how to recoup them.

Can anyone please help me with this. I really need to recover this data.
