Recovering a partition (disk appears too small)

Hello lovely people,

I have spent the last day and a half perusing this forum getting me this far:

Yesterday I put my 1 TB external hard drive in my Linux desktop as a secondary drive and, on startup, without prompting, it started rebuilding my primary HD to this secondary drive. Thus, my partition tables and geometry are all bungled. If I really need too, I will do a PhotoRec recall of the files, but as there are many important files I would rather not browse through them all one by one. Before the quick scan, the partition was not recognized, it is displayed as unallocated space.

I have done a Deep Scan (after the quick scan gave me the same error about disk size and this partition) and the log is posted here. Is there anything I can do to make Testdisk recognize this partition so that I can try to load the file list?

The partition I want is the following:

HPFS - NTFS 37259 253 53 182171 37 33 2327997653
This partition ends after the disk limits. (start=598581826, size=2327997653, end=2926579478, disk end=1953525165)

If you had a single NTFS partition, after Quick Search, use 'a' to manually add an NTFS partition starting at 0/32/33.
Set this partition as P(rimary). If there are other partitions, set them as D(eleted).
On next screen, choose Write, confirm, Quit
Go in the Advanced menu, select the NTFS partition, choose Boot, RebuildBS, List. If it works, choose Write and confirm, otherwise, please post the new log file.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply! 30 hours later it has not succeeded. I rebuilt BS (I did not restart my system directly after manually creating the partition, I did restart testdisk after marking the Linux partitions as blank.. D was not available with the left and right arrow keys) Now I have restarted my computer and am running the rebuild BS again. Just now when I ran a quick search, the LInux partitions showed up and again I was unable to label them as deleted: I can label them blank though. Here is the log up until restarting my computer, I hope there is something I am foolishly overlooking.

Hello there,

Another observation: I believe the NTFS partition may have been originally created on Vista. I had selected 'No' when it prompted me the first time I ran testdisk. It doesn't ask me this question anymore and each time I perform a quick scan it initializes at cylinder 14400 or thereabout. The manual NTFS partition is the only partition displayed before the quick scan, but upon scanning the manual NTFS is not displayed and the erroneous Linux partitions are not listed as deleted; is there a reason I don't have the option to set the partitions as Deleted? (Primary bootable, primary, logical, blank are my options). I have not changed anything about my disk geometry yet, should I?
