No partition found for recovery

#1 Post by laberra8 »

Hi guys, I have a problem on my hard-disk so I want recover data and then reinstall W7. I want recover the partiotion with TestDisk but I found some problems.

The first problem is that among the disks connected to the pc where I'm working the hard-disk that I would recover (1T) it's show "Disk \\.\PhysicalDrive2 - 33 MB / 31 MiB" .
Then I analize and TestDisk found a partition but it give me the warnings "number of heads/cylinder mismatches 16 (NTFS> != 255 <HD)" and "Bad ending cylinder (CHS and LBA don't match) No partition is bootable" .
I continue with the search and TestDisk show "The harddisk (33 MB / 31 MiB) seems to small! (( 1000 GB 931 GiB) Check the harddisk size: HD jumpers settings, BIOS detection... Hint: update Windows to support LBA48 (minimum: W2K SP4 or XP SP1) The following partition cant't be recovered: " .
If I try the search (also deeper search) I haven'y any partition for recovery.

Do you have any answer for my problem? Thanks a lot.
(if the question has already been asked in the forum please link me the answer and delete as well my topic)

Update

If I select Advanced-List TestDisk shows the message "Cant't open filesystem. Filesystem seems damaged." so I tried to recover the data with PhotoRec. But it read only 33MB (like the buffer) and I recovered only few files compared to the whole disk.
Do you have any solution? Thanks.

(if do you want move the topic in Recovery File do it)

Lokks like that the size of your disk is wrong?
Please provide info from your disk management console and from testdisk / Analyse.
It's your current partition table.

You should check your disk, using the diagnose tool first.
In some cases, manufacturer offer an opportunity to set your disk capacity back.
It's often called something like setMAX.
Also check for a firmware upgrade.
If it doesn't help you should make a diagnose using HDD Capacity Restore Tool and hdat2.
Hdat2 is the most reliable tool but runs from a DOS-boot-cd.
hdat2 has 2 options like SetMAX and delete HPA (host protectetd Area).
You'll find some Info here:
http://forum.cgsecurity.org/phpBB3/mism ... n-t32.html
HDD capacity resore tool is easy to use, but didn't work so far in all cases.
If you use hdat2, the best solution would be, to connect your disk internally.
