Recovery of RAW partition

#1 Post by zazzn »

Something has gone wrong with my disk again, I believe the controller is bad in my backup server. While I was copying files form one disk to another the disk went offline and when it came back it shows as raw.

This is a 4TB drive which is in a windows home server 2011 box. The box doesn't officially support 4TB GPT as it can't format them but if you format them on a windows 7 machine then move the drive back it seems to work great. Anyways, the disk is now showing up as raw, and all my attempts to use testdisk on-track, or other recovery have failed. As the partition still shows up on the disk, but as raw.

I need to recover the disk, and if I use file recovery software it does not show the file names although I can recover most of the files.

Any help would be appreciated. I tried using Testdisk to analyze the partitions, but none of the returned results show the files when I list them using P.
