see what i have written in bootitbm-forum about testdisk and bootitbm-problems(bootmedia)
https://www.terabyteunlimited.com/ucf/v ... 07db#p9116
only windows-version worked properly. not hirens 15.2, not from floppy. bootfloppy + nonboot testdisk used
drive was on esata.
It could be that the original is now mixed up too....
hope i can clone without formatting, right? sector by sector with trueimage fullversion.

As long as your disk doesn't contain any bad sectors and isn't physically damaged, there wouldn't be any reason to clone your disk?
You can use TestDisk version 7WIP run a diagnose under windows.
Under windows, if you are able to list your files, you can even copy/backup them to another intact disk or partition.
I'll try to guide you through!
As christophe already suggested, please run Advanced / Boot.
Please upload a screen.
If the menu List is available, have another try to list your files.
Please let me know.
Further information will follow!

DLG Datalifeguard diagnostics is actually testing clone-drive.
trueimage-cloning failed. cloning to second drive which could be more mixed up.
will get a clean new 1 TB-drive on saturday. But will restore data on a new 2tb beforehand.
what can be done when i find errors?
zero-writing?
how do i prepare the clone-drive WD10EZRX to remove data etc?

Clone-drive 1tb ok and wipe idone n DLG diagnostics.
prepared partition in Trueimage since cloning failed, but didnt help. cloning still fails. Do i have to format(in windows or where?). only source and target was attached.
i dont trust BIBM from terabyte. it does not show hdd-type only hddo an hdd1..... they also have wipe for dos and clone-option in BIBM.
When i have a clone i will recover data to 2tb-drive.

They seem to have kicked me out of terabyteforum. maybe better. theme was too confusing.
But i am actually running a terabyte-tool. copywipe to wipe 1TB-drive WD10EZXR which will be used to clone for a second time. was mixed all over.
Surprise: Its now running since 5 hrs and only 5% done. 100hrs, more than 4 days is not realistic isnt it?
will interrupt and start newest dban. drive is single and boot-cd used.

As already decribed in my last post above, I'd need a screenshot!
The difference is, if both, your boot sector and its backup for example are valid, indicates that you file system is damaged.
If you're able to list your files, you can use testdisk to copy/backup your data to an intact disk or partition!
If you format your disk, you*ll overwrite your current file system.
In that case, only datarecovery software might help!
That's why it's not recommended to change nor modify anything to your affected disk.
Before you go to run an huge amount of tools against your disk, you should have a try to copy your data to a healthy disk or partition.!
If it works for you, everything would be done quickly!
There is no itention to change and write anything to your disk and should be avoided.
TestDisk is capable to copy data even if a file system is damaged.
Info will follow, if you're providing required information!
In the meantime, before you go to buy another disk, you can have have a try to copy some data (as an example one folder containing some files), to figure out, is it working for you or not!

If you'd like to test your disk, you can have a look to crystaldiskinfo!
Please download the portable version, because the installer (exe) contains adware open candy!

Disk is errorfree (DLG). Wiping with Dban will be finished in a few hours. Will then clone and show the screenshots or better viceversa.
Will work with the clone afterwards.
Will do the recovery-test right after DBAN-finish. Come back tonight.

Here are your instructions:
The partition table contains a single NTFS partition that match the disk size.
Run Testdisk, Advanced, select the NTFS partition, choose Boot, RebuildBS, List.
If you see your files, choose Write, confirm, Quit
-----------------
If you cannot run a diagnose under windows, you can you use a Live-CD like Knoppix?
DOS doesn't support long file names, NTFS support to copy data etc..
Might be possible that you get better results!
Knoppix already contain testdisk.
Open the start menu, select Knoppix and root terminal.
Type in su testdisk and repeat your diagnose!
