hdd vanished

#1 Post by SATA »

Hi,

Firstly am no PC expert! I am trying to recover some photos from a damaged SATA HDD that I have removed from a laptop that was droppped.

The IT dept. at work hooked the HDD up to a PC at work and photorec recognised the HDD. However I could not run the programme at work due to the time it takes (they power down at night) and the fact that the recovered files would take up a lot of space.

However, when trying to do it at home photorec does not seem to fin the HDD.

I have looked in device management in my computer but its not showing there. I have tried it on an old pc and also on a laptop that has an identical HDD as the old damaged one.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I can get the HDD recognised?
