Does testdisk run on linux/armv5tejl?

#1 Post by hulchko »

I am attempting to recover lost data on a seagate drive running armv5tejl GNU/Linux. Will testdisk work? Currently I have installed 386 version and extracted all the files, but I get "bash: ./testdisk_static: cannot execute binary file". Any help? (pretty new to linux)

You will need to recompile TestDisk for this processor. Decompress the source file, run

Code: Select all

 ./configure && make && make install
Another possibility is to put the disk on a PC and run TestDisk from your usual OS.

Thanks for your prompt reply. Decompressing and recompiling is beyond my skill level with Linux. I cannot move the disk to windows as it is an networked/external (GOFLEX) device. I used to have back-ups and photos, but now I don't "see" any. If anyone has ideas on recovery, I would like to hear them.
