CHKDSK stopped in the middle, NTFS became RAW. Unreadable.

#1 Post by jackirfan »

Hello,

I was running CHKDSK /f /r and my laptop died. Since then, the HD is unrecognisable, even through BIOS. I plugged it in externally in another laptop, and it shows up in Windows Disk Manager, but all the partitions are RAW. SeaTools short and long tests both fail.

In TestDisk, if I select a partition, and choose NONE as the "partition-table-type", then this screen comes up:

if I choose TYPE and NTFS then BOOT, then this screen comes:

If I choose LIST, TestDisk says "Can't open filesystem. Filesystem seems damaged".

Is there any way to solve this?

Instead of selecting I:, choose the corresponding PhysicalDrive. In Advanced, try Boot, RebuildBS, List.
If you can see your files, choose Write and confirm. Otherwise post the testdisk.log file content.

Hm it doesn't display the Physical Drive separately: http://i.imgur.com/8RUByMw.png

H, J, K are the partitions on the RAW drive, but as you can see it doesn't display the Physical Disk. Am I doing something wrong?
