Segmentation fault

#1 Post by hawkeyenl »

Hi,

I'm running photorec 7.0-WIP on my Synology DS211+. However, shortly after starting, it stops with a message 'segmentation fault (core dumped)'. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

Run "gdb photorec" (replace photorec by the exact filename) and type "run".
It may tell you what the problem is: kernel too old, mismatching architecture...

Try "dmesg" in this case

I've got photorec running on my laptop at the moment. I've connected 1 of the 2 RAID1 disks to my laptop via SATA-to-USB, and it's currently collecting photos. It's gonna take about 6 days (2tb over USB), but at least it's running so I don't want to disturb it for now. After this has finished I'll try to run extdelete, but I want this to finish first.

Do you have the same problem when using latest 7.1-WIP ?
Are you using the version compatible with the CPU of your computer and/or NAS ?

I am using 7.1 now.
Anyway, I did what previous user did - connected one of my disk to my pc trough usb.
Here is the other question:
files I am trying to recover are NEF - nikon raw files. In your wiki http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/File_For ... Multimedia you have this format listed, but when I go to file formats in photorec I cannot find this.

I don't want to recover tons of other files since i now for sure i need only nef one.

ok, I am running it through the command line
gui one is always gets stuck on 1%
is there a way to specify which type of files you want to recover with command line in windows?
also, I though it supposed to work for deleted files only, but i see pics which i never deleted in my rec folders?
i just don't have 3 tb in my pc to recover all stuff.

In FileOpts, you can select the file family you want to recover (ie. TIFF pour .nef).
By default, PhotoRec only recover deleted files when a partition (FAT, exFAT, NTFS, ext2/3/4) is selected but if the disk has been defragmented in the past, there may be deleted copies of the files.
