Hi,
I have an 8GB SD Card, with a number of photos on it.
When I insert it, Windows tells me that it needs formatting - "You need to format the disk in drive E: before you can use it". I haven't yet chosen to format it!
When I load testdisk, it identifies a physicaldrive of only 32MB. This appears completely empty. I notice that there is a note that disk capacity must be correctly detected for a succesful recovery, and I'm failing at this point already. If I do go ahead and analyse then I am informed that the partition sector doesn't have the endmark 0xAA55.
Any ideas as to what I should do?
Nick

Re: Help requested on a corrupt SD Card
Did you use testdisk 32bit?
How is your card listed in testdisk disk selection at disk / dev / sd* (* - letter can vary).
Please have a another try to check it.
Also, check your disk management console and what size of your card is listed there?

Re: Help requested on a corrupt SD Card
Thanks Fiona.
It's listed disk/dev/sdb.
I've tried again, same error.
Under disk management, it shows as: Removable 31MB, Online.
The partition is marked 31MB RAW. Healthy (primary partition)

Re: Help requested on a corrupt SD Card
Sorry - I've just realised that you were asking what was written after "disk/dev/sdb." -
32MB / 30 MiB
CHS 3 255 63 - sector size = 512

Re: Help requested on a corrupt SD Card
Unfortunately, it's not possible to recover files if your card capacity is not recognized correctly.
Often the card is damaged.
In rare cases tools like sd formatter and hp usb storage tools etc.. helped to get capacity back?
Only few user reported something about this and I can't judge it.
