Scanning / Recovery Question

#1 Post by ChrisLenga »

So I'm going through the scan, which for about two days has been going painfully slow. Granted, its a large drive so I suppose that's to be expected. I'm at 63% and figured now would be a good chance to reach out and see what to do next as the tutorials are a bit confusion at this point.

So far I'm at this stage. Do I have to wait until its at 100% or is it only scanning for data that its already found? When it comes to selecting something, what will I be selecting to recover the partition as there's about a terabyte and a half on this drive that I'm looking to save.

It's difficult to answer. More information will help: Has the partition been deleted ? Is the partition still present but unreadable ? What was the filesystem of this partition ?

Sorry, here's some additional detail.

Its a 3TB external drive that resulted in some damage to the exterior case thus its no longer an external drive. Upon plugging it into the tower directly, the partition was unavailable and it was showing un allocated space. It requested to be initialized which is where I figured this step needed to take place as there's a decent amount of data on the drive.

Partition is not present and its showing the following.

I'm unsure as to what the file system was as it was an external drive, it did automatically detect however when launching the program that it was an efi file system so I went with that option.

Nevermind, I decided to just wipe the drive and lose all my data. Its too bad, if I had successful help dealing with this matter I would have donated $50 or $100 for the assistance. Oh well. I suppose its time to start relying on the cloud for all my storage needs as I no longer can trust external drives.
