I have an WD 500 GB SATA Harddisk 2,5“ from a Laptop. The Laptop underwent a shake and after this the Disk produces “Disk Errors” in the Eventlog (bad sector).
The HDD spins up and I can access it. There are 4 Partitions on it (Windows 100MB Partition and Recovery Partition) and a 42 GB System-Partition and a 425 GB Data-Partition.
I coukd save the files from the data-partition by Testdisk.
But there are although files on the systempartition which I can’t access. Unter Windows the HDD gets recognized, I got a Driver-Letter for each partition. The File System is RAW.
Testdisk alalysed the disk and the system-partition, but can’t recover any files. I interrupted the scan after about 15 mins. Because I am afraif the problem gets bigger with scan-time. The scan-time predicted was about > 10 hours.
What can I do to save the Data on the System-Disk?
What would be the right procedure?

Re: Save Data on Disk recognized filesystem RAW
Can you upload a snaphot of testdisk / Analyse and your current partition structure.
If you still have all partitions in your partition table, you can have a try to list your files using the testdisk menu Advanced and copy them off of your disk.
If you've had a headcrash you should stress your disk as little as possible.
If testdisk hangs, cloning might be an idea.
Please let me know, can you list your files?
Further info will follow.

Thanks for your answer.
I tried to check the disk again with testdisk.
Unfortunately the disk does not spin up anymore and is not recognized anymore.
The disk gets very hot in seconds. So i unplugged everything.
Still remains something to do?

It's probably a case for a datatrecovery lab?
Using any cooling tips like to connect it externally and a fan would be on your own risk.
