Roxio .gi files

#1 Post by MartinC47 »

Does PhotoRec recognize the disk image files created by Roxio Creator?

Sonic Global-Image File (*.gi)

My extended run of PhotoRec, which took more than 45 days in total, recover 10,500 files.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have recovered the 40-50 CD image files I created using Roxio
to create backup copies of my music CD's

thanks

Wonderful service!

PhotoRec 7.1 has recovered 40 .ig files.

I used Roxio to attempt to burn the files to CD :

26 were successful. While I am missing some of my favorite CD's I am very happy with the result.

5 files were not processed at all. Roxio said the disc was created successfully but nothing was written. The project took just a few seconds. Roxio did not complain about the .IG files.

9 CD's were created with 1 bad track of variable length. Some had parts of other music and/or other data? Roxio did not complain about the .IG files.

All the .IG files recovered have lengths that appear to be reasonable. 500-800 MB. The header areas look "correct".

The recovery has not completed and I have run into a problem where PhotoRec is complaining about not enough disk space and is creating empty recovery directories.
( There is 120 GB of free space on the drive. )
When I press C it continues processing. It seems to be in a loop.

I can't thank you enough Christophe. I did leave you a little something. I wish I could do more.

It's better to have a destination disk with a lot of free space. In an ideal situation, there should enough free space to store the whole source partition.

Corrupted .gi may be due to fragmented files (It's now too late to defragment).
